WHAT IS the “Internet of Things” and how does Monitac use it?
Simply put, the Internet of things or “IoT” is the internetworking of physical devices, vehicles, buildings and other items, embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuators, and network connectivity that enable these objects to collect and exchange data. We then use this data to ensure uptime, make better decisions and ultimately save you money. The result is a smarter, more energy efficient and cost effective building.
Automation & Monitoring
Avario adds intelligence to buildings, powering down equipment like TVs and AC units when a room is unoccupied, or pass alerts to a central control facility if excess water or power draws are detected – which could be an indication of a leak, electrical problem or use of unauthorised cooking in a dormitory room.
We often install computer controlled, dimmable lights in our projects to enhance the space. These provide the user full control over the brightness of each of the lights in a room, and can be controlled through a smartphone or even linked to events such as a door opening, a film being paused or the sun setting, or to simulate the morning dawn to coincide with your alarm. These unobtrusive systems provide a more comfortable and enjoyable living or working space and reduce energy consumption.

Entertainment
Avario has the ability to connect multiple HD TVs to a central media management hub that can serve up live or recorded TV, Movies and online content to every room in a home, camp or hotel. The user browses through available content on their TV screen, wall control panel or smartphone using a rich interface that shows movie posters, trailers, ratings and plot outlines. The system can be integrated with our automation system enabling the user to control their lights, curtains and thermostat through the same on-screen interface, or to respond to events such as dimming the lights, closing blinds and turning the TV on when a movie is played.
